14 More Utahns Die; Technical Difficulties Lead To Partial COVID-19 Stats

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health on Friday released a partial report of the state’s recent COVID-19 statistics, noting that Friday’s testing numbers are “incomplete and artificially low.
“We are experiencing significant technical difficulties with the data system we use to run our daily case count and test data,” according to UDOH. “The case count and testing data presented below were compiled prior to the system malfunctioning early this morning.”
According to the report, at least 2,150 more Utahns have tested positive for the virus.
Health officials noted the remainder of the results will be posted Saturday, and the number of reported cases and tests will appear higher.
Though the testing numbers are incomplete, the data on hospitalizations and deaths are generated from another system and were not impacted, officials said.
Tragically, 14 more residents have died as a direct result of the coronavirus.
On Friday, 473 people with COVID-19 were being treated in Utah hospitals.
Testing
According to UDOH’s partial report, a total of 1,121,706 people have been tested so far, which is an increase of 12,157 from yesterday.
Of those, a total of 145,789 have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, which is an increase of 2,150 from yesterday.
The rolling seven-day average for positive tests is 2,616, and the rolling seven-day average for percent of positive laboratory tests is 23.5%.

Hospitalizations
There are currently 473 people with COVID-19 hospitalized, and 184 of them are in intensive care units. Another 19 patients are currently hospitalized as COVID-19 persons under investigation.
UDOH reports that 84.7% of the state’s ICU beds are full. Utah’s ICU threshold is 85%.
In the 16 hospitals with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19, the ICU beds are 87% full.

Deaths
UDOH reported 14 more Utahns have died as a result of COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll to 701.
On Friday, the following individual’s deaths were reported:
- Male, between 65-84, Weber County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Morgan County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Morgan County resident, not hospitalized
- Female, between 45-64, Utah County resident, not hospitalized
- Female, between 45-64, Box Elder County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 45-64, Davis County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 25-44, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized
- Female, between 65-84, Salt Lake County resident, hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Washington County resident, hospitalized at time of death
