SPRINGDALE, Utah – Officials with the National Park Service said a body located in Zion National Park below the Angels Landing trail has been identified as a 42-year-old St. George man.

The victim, Corbin McMillen, was reported missing on Feb. 18 and a body was located in the park the next day.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the McMillen family and friends,” said Zion NP Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh. “We are all deeply saddened by this outcome.”

Officials said McMillen told his mother he was going to hike the Angels Landing trail on Feb. 18.

His unoccupied vehicle was found by park rangers that evening, and a formal search began when rangers confirmed the vehicle was still parked at The Grotto trailhead the following morning.

“Later that afternoon, members of the search team found Mr. McMillen’s body at the base of Moonlight Buttress,” officials said. “The summit of Moonlight Buttress is a feature located on the West Rim Trail near Angels Landing.”

Investigators said McMillen sustained injuries consistent with a high elevation fall, probably from the summit of Moonlight Buttress.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
