Nearly 28,000 More Vaccines Distributed; 562 Test Positive For COVID

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Department of Health reported Wednesday that 562 people have tested positive for COVID-19, and five more have died.
Four of the five people who died passed away before March 1, according to UDOH.
The state administered 27,965 additional vaccines.
Currently, 127 people are hospitalized with the virus.

Testing
UDOH reports 2,348,003 people have been tested so far, which is an increase of 7,932 people tested since yesterday.
Of those, a total of 382,733 Utahns have tested positive for COVID-19. That’s an increase of 562 new cases since Tuesday’s report.
The rolling 7-day average for positive tests is 424 per day.
The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “people over people” is 7.7%. The rolling 7-day average for percent positivity of “tests over tests” is 3.9%.
Hospitalizations
There are 127 people currently hospitalized with confirmed cases of COVID-19, and 51 of those people are in intensive care units. Another 15 patients are hospitalized with suspected cases of COVID-19.
The state’s ICU beds are 70.3% occupied. The ICU beds in Utah’s referral centers are 72.6% full.
Referral Centers are the 16 hospitals in Utah with the capability to provide the best care for patients with COVID-19. Because most patients are transferred to these facilities, their utilization is the best reflection of the true hospital capacity in Utah when looking at ICU beds.
Deaths
Five additional Utahns have lost their lives to COVID-19. Four of those people died before March 1, health officials reported.
To date, 2,082 of the state’s residents have been killed by the virus.
The following individuals’ deaths were reported Wednesday:
- Female, older than 85, Cache County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Sanpete County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, older than 85, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death
- Male, between 65-84, Sanpete County resident, long-term care facility resident
- Male, between 65-84, Carbon County resident, hospitalized at time of death
Vaccinations
Utah has administered 1,206,693 vaccines so far, which is an increase of 27,965 from Tuesday’s numbers
So far, 798,961 people have received at least one dose, and 438,900 have been fully immunized.
There have been 1,387,790 vaccines shipped to the state.
