MIDVALE, Utah — One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition after police said a shooting occurred in the parking lot of a Midvale hotel.
Sgt. Melody Cutler with the Unified Police Department said officers responded to the Motel 6 at 7263 Catalpa Street shortly after 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
When police arrived, they found a man with apparent gunshot wounds in “extremely critical condition.”
Cutler said two men, both in their 20s, had an altercation at the hotel, which began in a room before spilling out into the parking lot. That’s where shots were fired.
The victim was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery.
An update on the man’s condition was not available as of 4 p.m.
Cutler said police arrested a suspect shortly after the incident, but the man has not yet been booked.
Their identities have not been released.
