MURRAY — A chase for a stolen vehicle led to a car wreck Friday night involving a patrol cruiser, according to the Unified Police Department.
Sgt. Aymee Race with the UPD said detectives were looking for the stolen vehicle and had asked the Department of Public Safety helicopter to follow it.
Race said the stolen vehicle was spiked by police when it moved to Murray and continued to South Salt Lake.
During the incident, police said a UPD officer attempted to clear the intersection at 4800 S. State St. as they activated their emergency lights and traveled eastbound.
Race said another vehicle was traveling northbound through the intersection, striking the UPD patrol car.
