VERNAL, Utah — A man who police said was publicly intoxicated was arrested Sunday morning for brandishing a revolver at bar employees, according to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the booking affidavit, the incident happened at the Gateway Saloon & Cafe on 734 E. Main St. in Vernal.
Officers said they were dispatched to the bar after a report from one of the bar’s employees said a male suspect wearing a mustard yellow sweater, pulled out a revolver during an altercation in the parking lot.
According to the booking affidavit, the suspect was later identified as 22-year-old Quentin McCoy Neilsen.
During the investigation, the UCSO said they found Neilsen near 500 E. Main St. in Vernal. He was immediately put into handcuffs. After being given his Miranda rights, officers said they found a .22 revolver tucked in the waistband of his pants.
When talking to the bar security officer, the UCSO said Neilsen was arguing with one of his friends in the main lobby.
The affidavit stated that the security guard intervened and kicked both Neilsen and the other party into the parking lot.
When an employee approached him, officers said Neilsen pulled the revolver out of the front waistband of his pants and pointed the revolver at her.
Officers said Neilsen was booked into the Uintah County Jail where he tested positive for alcohol consumption.
Neilsen was charged with aggravated assault, possession of firearm while intoxicated and possession of paraphernalia, according to the affidavit.
