DENVER — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service needs help finding a suspect involved in the illegal killing of a gray wolf back in September in Grand County, Colorado.
According to the USFWS, the male wolf was captured by Colorado Parks and Wildlife on Aug. 30, as part of the Copper Creek Pack capture operation.
USFWS said a necropsy revealed that a gunshot wound ultimately led to the wolf’s death.
Gray wolves in the Colorado area are listed as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act. Killing or harassment of gray wolves is illegal without federal authorization, according to the USFWS.
The service is offering a monetary reward for any information regarding the death of the wolf.
