OREM, Utah — A Texas man was arrested after a high-speed chase Sunday morning, according to Utah County Sheriffs, claiming he was ‘having fun.’
According to the booking affidavit, troopers were pursuing a silver Honda CRV with a Texas license plate on Interstate 15.
A deputy said they noticed a vehicle matching the description following too close to the vehicle in front of them. The deputy caught up to the vehicle and confirmed the license plate number with dispatch, according to the sheriff’s office.
The deputy said he tried to initiate a traffic stop by mile marker 278 before the driver began fleeing, reaching speeds up to 110 mph.
The driver exited I-15 at Orem Center Street and was later found at a 7-Eleven gas station on 1200 West, according to the affidavit
Deputies said the driver was identified as 25-year-old Tyler James Flynn after he was commanded by deputies to exit the vehicle.
After being given his Miranda rights, deputies said Flynn indicated he was driving from San Fransico to New York while making bizarre comments like saying he was ‘having fun’ in the situation.
The affidavit stated Flynn was arrested for reckless driving and failure to respond to officers.
