SOUTH SALT LAKE— A man will likely face charges for attempting to carjack a South Salt Lake vehicle and rob other cars.
According to court documents, the Kory Bankhead, 28, approached a South Salt Lake City employee who was in sitting in the driver’s seat in the parking lot of a community center. Bankhead “demanded the truck and tried to enter the vehicle through the driver’s door.”
The employee exited the truck and the two began pushing each other back and forth. Court documents state, “The employee was able to defend himself and prevent [Bankhead] from getting into the truck. The truck was unlocked with the keys in the ignition.”
After fending Bankhead off, the employee followed Bankhead as he left the parking lot of the community center and entered “at least three unoccupied vehicles parked in the area.”
The city employee remained following him until Bankhead was found and apprehended by police.
Bankhead admitted “he was using bath salts prior to the incident.”
