ST. GEORGE — A St. George man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for brandishing both a firearm and a katana, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the booking affidavit, the incident happened at the Pilot Flying J gas station located at 2841 S. 60 East.
The sheriff’s office said they received a call from a semitruck driver who was hit by a white Western Express truck.
The suspect would then step out of the vehicle and begin brandishing a gun before leaving, according to the WCSO.
One of the sheriffs said they were driving northbound on Interstate 15 when they saw a suspect running from the gas station toward the truck with “a large fixed knife.”
During the investigation, the WCSO said two witnesses saw the semitruck driver and the suspect arguing. The suspect would then pull a black 9 mm out of his waistband, and hold it down toward the ground, according to the WCSO.
The affidavit stated the vehicle was found on Pioneer Rd. when an officer identified the driver as 27-year-old Raymond Arthur Jackson.
During questioning, Jackson said he pulled out the gun but later denied having any knowledge of the situation, according to the affidavit.
When searching Jackson, officers said they found the firearm along with a three-foot katana and a six-inch fixed blade. Officers also noticed blood on the side of the gun, which was a product of Jackson having cut his fingers.
The affidavit stated that Jackson was charged with three counts of possession of a dangerous weapon and one count of use of a dangerous weapon during a fight.
