BLUFFDALE – A man is in custody after police found a woman’s body in the back seat of his car at a Bluffdale 7-Eleven overnight.
Police have kept the details of the situation very close to the belt, with very few details being released. But police did say the victim was confirmed to have died by homicide, and she had multiple “significant” injuries found on her body.
Police identified the suspect as 42-year-old Jacob Johnson of Herriman.
The situation also began as a DUI investigation just after midnight, police said, with three police departments involved — Saratoga Springs, Herriman and Bluffdale.
Just after midnight, police said “contact was made” with Johnson inside the car at the gas station near Camp Williams, at 15835 S. Redwood Road. As officers spoke with Johnson, the woman was observed in the back of the car, police said.
Johnson was then removed from the car and arrested.
A search of Johnson’s court reports shows a history of domestic violence and protective orders, as well as a history of driving under the influence.
The victim in this case has not been named, but Johnson told police she had been living with him and they had an argument about their relationship.
Records show Johnson was in the midst of a divorce with a Saratoga Springs woman who requested a protective order against him in August, which was denied by the court.
No victims have been identified and police are not speaking to the media at this time pending further investigation, although police said there is no outstanding threat to the public.
