SPRINGVILLE — A teenager was booked into a juvenile detention center Thursday for bringing a dangerous weapon to school, according to the Springville Police Department.
In a Facebook post from the SPD, officers responded to an incident at Springville High School. The post said that a teacher observed one of her students was visibly distressed in her class.
It was later found out that the student was threatened with a firearm by another student in the bathroom, according to the post.
Police reportedly interviewed the victim and other students who witnessed the incident to determine the suspect’s identity. However, police determined that the juvenile suspect had left the school.
Detectives and officers with the SPD were later able to locate the suspect, according to the post.
The post also stated that this was an isolated incident with no immediate threat to the rest of the school.
Police said the suspect was booked on charges of aggravated assault, brandishing a weapon, and bringing a dangerous weapon to school.
Due to the suspect’s age, the SPD hasn’t released their identity.
