SALT LAKE CITY — It’s that time of year when cable channels air a seemingly never-ending string of holiday movies.
After analyzing Google search data, a website said it determined Utah’s favorite – “Elf”.
BeautyAnswered.com said it also figured out which Christmas movie the other 49 states enjoys the most.
It looked at a dozen popular Christmas-themed movies. “We analyzed organic search trends in each state surrounding popular Christmas movies to find out which is the favorite in every state,” a news release said.
Utah wasn’t the only state with “Elf” on top. “Elf” and “The Polar Express” were each the favorite in ten states.
The survey considered the following movies: “Elf”, “The Polar Express”, “Miracle on 34th Street”, “The Santa Claus”, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”, “Love Actually”, “The Holiday”, “White Christmas”, “Home Alone”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, “A Charlie Brown Christmas”.
The survey uncovered some surprises. The website said one of the oldest Christmas movies, “A Christmas Carol” wasn’t mentioned as a favorite for any state.
“Miracle on 34th Street” and “Love Actually” was the favorite in only one state each, making them the least-popular Christmas films out of those we analyzed the website said.
