SALT LAKE CITY — One thousand families in need will get a free Christmas meal next week as part of a giveaway from Crossroads Urban Center.
Utahns in need of a Christmas meal will get a basket with a turkey and all the trimmings, Crossroads said in a news release.
The organization will give the meals away on a first-come, first-serve basis. Meals are limited to one per car and Crossroads does not require any kind of documentation to take a meal.
The food baskets will be distributed on Dec. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until they run out. The giveaway will be held at Rowland Hall School in Salt Lake City.
Volunteers will be loading baskets into people’s cars as they drive up. Crossroads advised that people drive up north on Lincoln Street to get to the volunteers.
The organization also said there would also be a walk-up option available on Lincoln Street.
Crossroads said this was its 29th year collaborating with Rowland Hall to distribute Christmas meals.
Along with the Rowland Hall school community, the Utah Food Bank, Eccles Broadcast Center, B.W. Bastian Foundation, Rocky Mountain Power, several religious organizations and individuals provided support for this giveaway, Crossroads said.
This is one of many events Crossroads organizes to help Utahns. Just a few weeks ago, it partnered with the Utah Food Bank and Harmons to give out 3,500 Thanksgiving meals.
