SALT LAKE CITY — Tracy Aviary’s Lightwalk invites guests to Candle Night, the annual charitable event to honor loved ones who have passed just in time to celebrate the holidays.
Thousands of flickering candles light up the pathways at Tracy Aviary until 9 p.m. Saturday. Each candle honors a loved one who has passed, providing a special way for people to pay tribute.
All proceeds go to support the nonprofit Counting Stars. Lightwalk founder Stephanie Bletzacker said the nonprofit supports families who have experienced the loss of an infant.
“After my own experience with infant loss, I realized the heavy burden that families deal with after the loss of a baby,” Bletzacker said.
“Not only are you dealing with the loss of a child but also funeral and hospital costs, which can be difficult to manage for young families. We created Counting Stars and Candle Nights to help relieve some of that stress and allow families to focus on grieving, healing, and finding happiness again.”
Those who purchased candles can pick them up the following week at the Aviary. Any candles not picked up by Jan. 1, 2025, will be used for future memorials.
