What is the KSL Community Board?
KSL's mission is to build up, connect, inform and celebrate Utah's communities and families.
The KSL Community Board has been created to better understand what's important to the various members of our community. We see community not just as a physical place, but also as collectives of people. Community can be found through shared culture, faith, ethnicity, gender, socioeconomics, or politics. We are seeking a group of people who represent Utah's diversity and who will provide thoughtful, informed feedback on the issues facing their communities. This board will not determine news content but will help us develop our editorial decision making. This will help us provide a voice and relevant news for all Utahns.
Why do we need a Community Board?
We all want to belong. We all want to feel we have opportunity to be seen, to be heard, and to advance. Each of us brings something unique to the table. In a time that feels increasingly divided, KSL believes different voices and perspectives coming together for a common purpose is a strength.
Our research tells us that KSL is the most trusted news organization in Utah. We recognize that we earn or lose trust through our everyday decisions, and we take our role in our community very seriously.
We also believe that good journalism is essential for healthy communities. Journalism is the only profession mentioned in the Constitution. It is about providing people the necessary facts and information that they need to make decisions that affect their lives. We can't fully serve a community without listening and understanding where we are succeeding or where we may be falling short in our obligation to serve. Our community board members will be key partners in helping us better serve all of Utah's communities.
