PROVO, Utah – Mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor unexpectedly appeared at Tuesday night’s BYU basketball game against Baylor.
Yes, it’s as random as it sounds.
Why was Conor McGregor at a BYU Basketball game?
McGregor sat courtside at the Marriott Center next to individuals from Orem-based Bucked Up Energy Drinks. The Notorious McGregor is sponsored by Bucked Up, where he has his own line of energy drinks.

BYU’s student section, “The ROC,” saw McGregor roll into the Marriott Center and immediately began chanting his name.
When Conor McGregor sat down, many people pulled out their phones during the BYU/Baylor game to get a picture of the celebrity.
BYU football, cheer squad, and women’s basketball athletes took pictures with McGregor during the men’s basketball team going on to pull off a 93-89 win.
Later in the game, wearing a BYU Nike hat, McGregor started a “B-Y-U” chant in front of the student section.

After those chants, McGregor walked back to his courtside seat, but before sitting down, he dapped up BYU football head coach Kalani Sitake and took a photo.
No one would believe you if you had any of this happening on your 2025 bingo card.
“It’s kind of funny because my first head coaching job was in Dublin, Ireland,” said BYU head coach Kevin Young after the win over So Ireland was well represented in Provo, but shout out to Conor. I wish I could have met him, but I’m sure those who were sitting around him had a blast.”
