GREEN BAY, Wis. – Former Utah State quarterback Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers’ season ended as it started — with a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

In the Wild Card loss, Love completed 20 of 33 passes for 212 yards. He had no passing touchdowns and threw three interceptions.

Philadelphia Déjà Vu For Jordan Love

On September 6, the Packers opened up their 2024 season against the Eagles at Corinthians Arena in São Paulo.

It was a close game but still ended in disappointment as Green Bay started 0-1 and Love went down with a knee injury in the final minute.

However, Love returned to the field much quicker than anticipated and the Packers went 11-4 from week two to week 17. Green Bay’s only losses came to its NFC North foes, Minnesota and Detroit.

All of this led up to a 7-seed in the NFC and a rematch with the Eagles.

Wild Card Woes

Unfortunately for Packers fans, the tone of the rematch was set on the very first play.

The Green Bay offense was set to start with the ball but a muffed catch from Keisean Nixon immediately gave Philadelphia possession.

Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense made the most of it with a Jahan Dotson receiving touchdown less than two minutes into the opening quarter.

After a few traded punts, the Eagles got the ball back with five minutes left in the first.

They marched into the red one before getting stonewalled and settling for a field goal. The quarter came to an end with Green Bay trailing 10-0.

As if the first-quarter disappointment wasn’t enough, it just got worse in the second.

Green Bay had three offensive drives in the quarter. They ended in an interception, a missed field goal, and another interception. Luckily, the defense did its job and held Philadelphia scoreless. Halftime came about and the Packers still trailed 10-0.

Things started to look up in the third quarter.

After forcing a punt, Green Bay took 12 plays to go 76 yards and finally put some points on the board with a field goal.

However, much to the enjoyment of the Philadelphia fans, the Eagles took just five plays to go 68 yards and tacked on another touchdown less than three minutes after the Packers’ first score.

Love and the Green Bay offense finally got some wind in their sails from the last drive though. A quick drive of their own ended in points again but this time they made it into the end zone.

Despite an overall lackluster performance through three quarters, the Packers found themselves trailing by just six.

This is where the hope died for the cheeseheads though.

An Eagles field goal was followed by a turnover on downs and then another field goal to put the home team back up by 12. On Green Bay’s last drive, Love went for it all just to find the hands of a Philadelphia defensive back for the third time.

Green Bay’s season came to an end in the Wild Card, 22-10, at the hands of the Eagles.

About Jordan Love

Before his time in the league, the Bakersfield, California native played at USU from 2016-19. During his time with the Aggies, Love threw for 8,600 yards, 60 touchdowns, and 29 interceptions with a completion rate of 61 percent.

In 2020, the Packers traded up to select Love with the No. 26 overall pick in the NFL Draft.

During his rookie campaign, the former USU standout was inactive for each of Green Bay’s games.

Love saw limited action in his second and third seasons with the Packers and continued to serve as the backup to four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers. Following the 2022 season, the Packers traded Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Rodgers trade paved the way for Love to be Green Bay’s QB1 in 2023.

In his first three seasons, Love threw for 606 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions with a 60.2 percent completion rate in 10 games played.

In 2023, Love threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He also ran for 247 yards and four touchdowns, leading the Packers to a 9-8 record in the regular season.

In two playoff games, the former USU signal-caller threw for 466 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions.
