1 killed in Bountiful shooting, 1 in custody

BOUNTIFUL — A man was killed Friday in a fatal shooting, and another man is in custody related to the shooting, police said.
According to Lt. Andrew Smith with the Bountiful Police Department, police were investigating reports of a gunshot when they found a man with a gunshot wound at 615 E. Millcreek Way.
The man was identified by police as 20-year-old Jacob Hess.
Despite life-saving efforts, Hess died.
Smith said the suspect, 21-year-old Dylan Goodin, was “in custody and cooperating” with police.
Goodin somehow injured his hand and was taken to the hospital for treatment, he has since been released from the hospital.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence and drug paraphernalia, drugs, alcohol, and the firearm used in the shooting were recovered.
The shooting is being investigated. Smith said the suspect and victim were high school friends.
According to a release from the Bountiful Police Department, Goodin has been booked into the Davis County Jail on the following charges: manslaughter, a second-degree felony, possession of a firearm by a restricted person, a third-degree felony, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
