TAYLORSVILLE – Three teens were behind bars Friday morning following an early morning police chase.
Police said they found a group of teens attempting to break into Taylorsville High School.
The officer was at the school with proactive patrols because of past break-ins.
When the officer approached them, police say the group took off in two separate cars, forcing the officer to choose which one to follow.
It ended near the Callaway Apartments on 1141 W. 3900 S. just before 4 a.m. when the suspect’s car hit a boulder.
After the crash, a male teenager took off on foot but was found shortly after and taken into custody with two female teens.
Officers say they found a stolen gun and alcohol in the car.
The teens might have thrown a firearm from the vehicle during the chase, officials said, but officers are still looking for it.
A separate break-in to a school nearby is now being connected to the group.
The teens are expected to face felony charges.
Police are currently looking for a second car.
