SOUTH SALT LAKE — South Salt Lake Police Department and Summit County Sheriff’s Office provided an update in the missing person case of Cornelis “Casey” Bogslag, including the announcement of a $50,000 reward offered anonymously for the person that provides information to find Bogslag.

The anonymous benefactor asked that a letter be read at the press conference on their behalf. It says in part: “I recently learned about Cornelis Frederik Bokslag, 29, of Salt Lake City who has been missing since June 6. As a Father, a child is a child to their father, no matter their age. I often receive amber alerts notifying me about children in distress. I am left anxious until we learn about, typically and thankfully, their safe return. Mr. Bokslag has not yet shared the same fate, 30 days on and counting. That is why, through the administration and care of my counsel, and only pursuant to the following conditions, I am making available a discretionary gift of $50,000 to the person who provides information that finds Mr. Bogslag. The following conditions…can be requested by emailing Kelly@ssb.law.”

Bogslag who goes by “Casey,” was last seen near his apartment on 3808 South West Temple in South Salt Lake City, on June 6.

He then missed work the following Monday which is very unlike him according to police.

A statement from Danielle Croyle, with the South Salt Lake Police Department said, “Cornelis Frederik Bogslag (30)  has not been in contact with family since Sunday, which is not like him.  He has a good job, gives prior notice if not going to be at work.  He has not been at work all week and did not notify his boss he was not coming into work, which is also not like him.”

Casey is six feet and two inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. His hair is blond and his eyes are gray. He currently has a goatee according to his family. He is usually dressed in long green Wrangler cargo pants, a T-shirt and military boots or sneakers and usually wears a cap.

Bokslag was reported missing by his parents on June 8.

Just hours later, his car, a silver 2012 Suzuki SX4 was located in a remote area of Summit County, Utah. The car was found on a remote road at the Castle Rock exit of Interstate 80 on Wednesday June 8. The white skier/snow/life elevated license plates (E068FE) were removed when the car was found. According to police, the license plates have not been recovered. No evidence in the vehicle showed any signs of foul play according to police.

Through search warrants and phone records, it was discovered that Bokslag shut his phone off the morning of June 6 and that same day, a small transaction of $100 was taken from his bank account. No money has been moved from that account since then.

According to the family, he worked for the Alta Ski Area for four seasons in the skier services department and had a summer job as a seasonal worker for the Salt Lake City Watershed. He has been a Ranger with the watershed since 2019.

If anyone has seen or has any information pertaining to the whereabouts of Cornelis Frederik Bokslag please contact Detective Hansen of the South Salt Lake Police Department at (801)412-3644 or call Valley Emergency Communication’s Center at (801)840-4000 and reference case number LK2022-18693.

Police continue to investigate whether Bokslag’s disappearance is suspicious or involves foul play.
