ST. GEORGE — A mountain biker came across a body on the Stucki Springs Trail outside St. George Wednesday.
A spokesperson for Santa Clara-Ivins Fire & Rescue said they responded to the trail along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and search and rescue crews at approximately 1:10 p.m.
“Due to the remote location, Santa Clara launched a life flight medical helicopter to (the) scene,” the spokesperson said.
He said that the trail was not accessible by vehicles, so the helicopter was the only alternative to walking or biking.
The spokesperson said that when crews arrived, they determined the patient was dead, and the scene was taken over by law enforcement.
The identity of the victim had not been released, and it was not immediately known if police suspected foul play.
This is a developing story. It may be updated.
