ELKO, Nevada — An Arizona driver died Sunday morning after rolling his semi truck into a frozen reservoir, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.
According to a press release from the NHP, the crash happened on state Route 225, near mile marker 67 by Wild Horse Reservoir.
Police said the driver was traveling northbound at a speed “too fast to safely negotiate the curved roadway.”
The driver hit the embankment of the curve, before going onto the frozen reservoir and rolling the vehicle, according to the NHP.

Police identified the driver as 76-year-old Ross Honsinger of Phoenix, Arizona. Honsinger was pronounced dead at the scene, due to fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
The NHP said the crash is an open investigation and is being investigated by the Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit.
