UPDATE: 2 killed, 1 survivor in Utah County plane crash

UPDATE: Two people were killed in the plane crash while another person was injured but survived and was found conscious.
The crash, near Kyhv Peak was in a hard-to-reach area with pine trees. According to Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Department, it took rescue crews approximately 45 minute to an hour to reach the crash of the white Cessna. KSL TV’s Chopper 5 was able to see the crash scene and rescue crews.
The plane was at rest among trees in a snow-covered area. Crews found the survivor up and walking when they arrived Cannon said. An air ambulance hoisted the injured survivor, who was taken to get medical care. The identities of those involved has not been released.
Cannon said crews will remain at the crash site for hours more. Because of the distance from the crash to mountain roads, melting snow and other complications, recovery efforts were complicated.

PROVO — Emergency crews have been called out to reports of a downed aircraft in the mountains east of Provo.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office and Capt. Jeanie Atherton with Provo Fire & Rescue said several units were en route to the scene of the crash. Cannon said they were using an Intermountain LifeFlight helicopter to reach the area, near Kyhv Peak.
Police have asked the public to avoid the old Squaw Peak Road and other access roads in the area.
Authorities have not said how many people were on the aircraft nor what may have caused it to crash.
