ST. GEORGE, Utah – Four young children will grow up without their father after the 34-year-old was gunned down outside a Washington County bar. Officials said Spencer Tafua was shot and killed in St. George over the weekend.
His sister spoke with KSL Monday.
“He made friends anywhere he went. It didn’t matter where he was. He made a new friend every day,” said Tafua’s older sister, Tammy Hunt.
She said her humble, happy, and caring brother was not one to cause trouble.
“(He was) always looking out for people, you know? If he knows you’re in the wrong, he’ll approach you and say, ‘Hey, you know that wasn’t right.’ He would always like to make things better,” she said.
Officials with the St. George Police Department said a dispute between Tafua and 26-year-old Bronson Flynn of Ivans started early Saturday inside the One & Only bar at 64 North 800 East.
Police said it turned deadly after Flynn shot Tafua with an assault rifle outside the buidling.
“He took someone away from us,” said Hunt.
Tafua’s sister who said she was very angry with the alleged killer, who she said she doesn’t know.
“What kills me the most is that he left behind four children that will never see him again,” she said.
At this point, St. George Police said they did not know what the men were fighting about, but have asked anyone with information to give their tip line a call at 435-627-4338.
While Flynn faced multiple charges from a jail cell including murder and DUI, Tafua’s mourning family is leaning on each other.
A judge ordered Flynn to be held on $100,000 cash bail at his initial court appearance Monday.
According to court records, Flynn’s criminal history includes a couple of misdemeanor crimes.
A friend has set up a GoFundMe account to help Tafua’s family during this tough time.
