SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a house fire at a vacant property in Salt Lake City on New Year’s Day. Crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to other properties.
Division Chief Bob Silverthorn said the call came in just after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at 2665 East 2100 South. Five fire engines, trucks and other support vehicles responded, and the fire was under control before 4:00 p.m., Silverthorn said.
Silverthorn said the house was either vacant or abandoned and didn’t have any fire alarms inside. No injuries were reported.
The fire was burning in the floor between the basement and first floor of the house. Silverthorn said it was not immediately clear how extensive the damage was, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
