OREM, Utah — Five people were taken into custody following an alleged shooting.
According to a release from the Orem Police Department, around 6:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, police were dispatched to the hospital on the report of a man with a gunshot wound.
An investigation into the shooting was conducted and a suspect was identified as Ryan Marquez-Bencomo.
A search warrant for Marquez-Bencomo’s home was obtained and Orem-Provo metro SWAT responded. According to the release, “before the warrant was served, two vehicles arrived at the home and then quickly left.”
Those cars were followed and officers attempted to stop both vehicles. One car was stopped, while the other fled from police, almost hitting a detective in the process. The “chase went through Orem, Lindon, and Pleasant Grove and ended in Orem after an accident.”
The release states, “several vehicles were damaged by the suspect during the chase, and three people were taken into custody from that vehicle.”
