Human remains found near Elephant Arch

SALT LAKE CITY — Human remains have been located by law enforcement near the Elephant Arch hiking area.
According to a press release from Washington City police, the remains were found by a hiker on Sunday.
After the remains were found, officers from Washington City police and deputies from the sheriff’s department processed the remains, which were in “various states of decomposition, indicating they had been there for an extended period of time.”
The department disclosed that the remains were of a man, noting that foul play is not suspected at this time.
According to the release, the man’s family requested that his name not be publicized by the department.
