Officials identify two people involved in fatal Summit County pursuit

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah – Officials identified a man and a woman Thursday who were involved in a multi-county police chase Wednesday morning.
The man and a woman were attempting to evade law enforcement after stealing a car and attempting to break into another vehicle, officers said.
The driver of the stolen car swerved to avoid a deflating tire device and lost control.
The car crashed off the highway near US 40 westbound and closed the area for several hours.
The car rolled several times, ejecting both passengers, officers said.
A medical helicopter took Charles Caster, 22, of Salt Lake City, to the hospital in critical condition. He remains hospitalized.
Daisha Reynolds, 19, of Salt Lake City, died at the scene.

The Utah Attorney General’s Office, West Valley Police Department, Park City Police Department, and the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner are investigating this incident.
Wasatch County Sheriff’s Office, Summit County Sheriff’s Office, and the Utah Highway Patrol offered their condolences to the family and friends of Reynolds.
