SALT LAKE CITY — An Indiana man was arrested for driving under the influence Thursday morning, blowing a 0.208 blood alcohol concentrate, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
According to UHP, the arrest happened on State Street near 2700 South when an officer witnessed a pickup truck going 52 mph northbound in the 30 mph zone.
UHP said the driver was identified by his Indiana driver’s license as Biak Kham. During the investigation, Kham fumbled to remove his license, as the officer said he had bloodshot, glassy eyes, and the odor of alcohol emanating from the vehicle.
The officer said Kham first said he had three beers and then afterward, began denying he had consumed anything.
When he was removed from his vehicle, Kham had trouble standing and was swaying in a “circular motion,” according to UHP.
Upon investigation, the officer said they found five open bottles of Heineken beer and a bottle of Johnnie Walker half-filled inside the car.
When given a breathalyzer test, Kham’s results came back indicating he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.208. He was then arrested and booked on DUI charges.
A record check showed that Kham had two prior convictions in Indiana for DUI within the last ten years.
