Kyiv Temple reopens for first time in 9 months on ‘limited basis’

SALT LAKE CITY — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that after nearly nine months of closure, the Kyiv Ukraine Temple has reopened on a limited basis for temple ordinance work.
According to the Church News, the temple was closed because of the armed conflict in Eastern Europe. The church released a statement at the time stating in part, “We pray that this armed conflict will end quickly, that the controversies will end peacefully and that peace will prevail among nations and within our own hearts.”
Church spokeswoman, Irene Caso, said in a statement that church members are able to make appointments to participate in temple ordinances.
“Earlier this year, the Kyiv temple was temporarily closed. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has carefully evaluated the current circumstances and decided to resume — on a limited basis — the sacred religious ceremonies in the temple,” Caso said.
