Man arrested for kidnapping and aggravated assault, police say

SALT LAKE CITY — A man who was out on parole was arrested Friday night for kidnapping and aggravated assault, according to the Salt Lake City Police Department.
According to police, 31-year-old Hector Chacon threatened a man with a firearm over an owed debt. The affidavit stated Chacon struck the man multiple times with the firearm, breaking his nose and leaving several lacerations on his eye.
During the assault, the SLCPD said the man called 911.
The man was being driven around, while threatened to be “shot if he tried to escape,” according to the affidavit.
During a search warrant, the affidavit stated that police found the victim’s license in Chacon’s bedroom, along with 30.2 grams of cocaine, plastic bags, and a scale.
Chacon was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on multiple charges including aggravated kidnapping and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, according to the affidavit.
