PROVO, Utah — The North Fork Fire Department is reminding people to hike with proper equipment after a 24-year-old man fell 30 feet at Bridal Veil Falls while hiking in flip-flops.
According to the department, the man took a hike in his flip-flops up Bridal Veil Falls and got about 20 minutes in before slipping and falling about 30 feet.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon with Utah County Sheriff’s Office tweeted, “Had he slid a few more feet he would have fallen over 100’ more straight down. We encourage people to be better prepared. Please consider your skill level and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. A few more feet and this 24 year old Provo man would likely have died. “
North Fork Fire Department along with Utah County Search and Rescue located the man and treated him for his injuries.
Intermountain life flight then responded to hoist him out of the canyon and the man was ultimately transported to the hospital in stable condition.
