KEARNS — Unified police say a man shot at two people, hitting one of the victim’s baseball hat during an argument Monday afternoon.

Dravin Paul Robinson, 23, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on felony charges of discharge of a firearm in the direction of a person, aggravated assault, and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief resulting in the loss of $550 or less and disorderly conduct involving violent behavior, according to the police affidavit.

A Unified police officer responded to a report of a person shot in his vehicle on 5416 South Rockford Street at approximately 3:04 p.m.

According to the affidavit, when the officer arrived, they found a female victim crying and the male victim claiming he almost got shot in the head by the suspect.

The victim showed the officer the hat the victim was wearing as the rim was damaged and frayed by the bullet.

The victims told police that they were driving southbound on 5400 South and observed a silver Acura Integra “swerving in and out of traffic and driving recklessly,” according to the affidavit.

The two vehicles pulled next to each other at the light on 5400 South Northwest Avenue, and the suspect and victims started to yell at each other.

“The victims reported that (Robinson) then pulled in front of their vehicle, slammed on his brakes, then got back into the lane next to them,” the affidavit stated. “(Robinson) fired a single shot through the passenger side of his vehicle, shattering the front passenger window.”

After questioning the victims, police found Robinson near the shooting, sitting in the driver’s seat of the Silver Acura Integra. He was arrested without further incident.

According to the affidavit, police executed a search warrant on Robinson’s car and found a shell casing and a pistol in the vehicle.

During his arrest, “(Robinson) asked multiple times if the other people were okay, and said he was sorry it had to get to that point,” the affidavit stated.

Robinson invoked his Miranda rights and was not questioned further.
