ALTAMONT, Duchesne County — Crews were working to contain a fire at an oil burying station on Friday afternoon in Duchesne County near mile marker 3.5 of State Route 87.
According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, one of the tanks caught on fire while maintenance was being done on them.
“At some point a fire started and the battery of tanks then became fully engulfed in flames,” the office said in a Facebook post. “The oil well site and location were evacuated, and State Road 87 north of Duchesne was shut down for a short time.”
Capt. John Crowley with the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said no injuries were reported.
It was not immediately known why the fire started, or how long it would take to get the fire under control.
This is a developing story. It may be updated.
