SALT LAKE CITY — One person has critical injuries and three others have minor injuries in a crash at 300 West North Temple.
Police say all were transported to the hospital, from a crash that officers said could have taken an even larger toll.
Dustin Posell was in the crash.
“I heard a crash…and then saw the bus coming straight at us,” Posell said. “Hit the car next to me and then that car hit into my car.”
There was no time to react.
Officers say another car actually sent the bus off-course.
“Witnesses are telling us that driver hit the bus and then the bus careened and hit two other cars,” Brent Weisberg said. “We are investigating to see if that person had a medical condition right before the crash.”
It was that driver who police say saw the worst of it and was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.
“There are two people on the bus who suffered minor injuries, and then the bus driver also suffered injuries as well,” Weisberg said.
Traffic was closed in all directions and Salt Lake City Police said they expected “a lengthy closure.”
But police say all it would have taken would be for, say, pedestrians to be in the wrong place at the wrong time…and this could have gone from bad to really, really bad.
