Orem Shooting Suspect Identified, People In Area Urged To Be Cautious

OREM, Utah — Officials with the Orem Police Department have confirmed a shooting near the Parkway Loft Apartments this evening.
Police are asking people in the area to stay inside. They say the suspect is still at large.
Officials said Elbert Paule, 19 years old, is a person of interest in the shooting.
Paule’s location is unknown at this time.
Police are asking the public to contact them if they have information about Paule’s whereabouts.
It is believed he fled on foot.

The Parkway Loft Apartments are in the area of Geneva Road and University Parkway. The crime scene is near the UTA Orem Central Station.
Officials said the shooting occured at the threshold of the apartment complex.
While area residents are predominately students, police could not say if either party attends nearby Utah Valley University.
An alert was issued to UVU students. A spokesperson said he did not believe there was any active search for the person of interest on campus.

Police believe the victim and suspect are known to each other. The weapon was recovered by police at the scene.
The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Police have not released victim identification.
