SALT LAKE CITY — If you love board games, you can get your fix at an event happening this weekend.
It’s called Proto Con. Designers showcase board games they’re trying to get published.
Players test them out and give their take on what they like or don’t like. Organizers say Utah is a hotbed for designers who want to make it big in the board game industry.
“It’s exciting for a game designer to have a table full of people you’ve never met before and have them so excited about your game and asking when it’s going to become published,” said Proto Con founder David Gonsalves.
This year, there are over 45 designers pitching their games and Gonsalves says they’ve got a waiting list. Spots are filling up fast for playtesters. Proto Con starts Friday, January 31 and runs through Saturday, February 1 at the Megaplex Event Hall in Valley Fair Mall.
