SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — After a very snowy winter, many of you are looking forward to going somewhere warm for spring break. But before you leave town, take some measures to protect yourself.
Before you leave your home, walk around and make sure you’ve remembered to lock all doors and windows. And remove any hidden house keys. Most burglars know exactly where to look.
It’s a good idea to have your mail and newspaper stopped while you’re out of town, or ask a friend or family member to pick it up for you.
Notify your neighbors to keep a watch on your house, and ask if they’d be willing to park a car in your driveway while you’re away.
If you have a home security system, call and let them know about your vacation plans.
And don’t share your every move on social media! Wait until you return to share memories.
Spring break weekend can be a prime time for criminals to take advantage of you. Make a conscious effort to stay safe and alert on the road, and take precautions to protect your home while you’re away.
That extra awareness can ensure your vacation is just the relaxing break you need.
