SALT LAKE CITY — One man suffered minor injuries after he drove around the crossing arms at 200 South and 700 West and crashed into a train, according to Lt. Dave Cracroft with the Salt Lake City Police Department.
The crash happened just before 4 a.m. Friday and police said 200 South will be closed until noon, at the earliest, because the train is blocking the intersection.

Cracroft said the driver told police he intentionally drove around crossing arms before crashing into the train, which dragged the car approximately 100 yards.
The driver was able to crawl out of the vehicle and was taken to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
The Utah Transit Authority said FrontRunner trains were seeing delays of 10-15 minutes after bus bridges were put in place between North Temple, Salt Lake Central and Murray stations.

UTA said trains were able to pass through the area around 6:30 a.m. and the bus bridges had been canceled. The crash occurred at the intersection just north of the Salt Lake Central Station.
Cracroft said the train was damaged in the crash, which complicated cleanup efforts.
