Serious crash latest misfortune to strike Carbon County family

EAST CARBON, Carbon County — A teen is facing a long road to recovery after a serious crash that was only the latest misfortune to strike his family over the past month.

At around 5:00 a.m. on Dec. 16, 15-year-old Teegan Robinson was traveling with his father to early morning wrestling practice in Price when a flatbed truck backed into the road from a driveway near 2700 East on U.S. Route 6.

“There was a guy backing out of his driveway with no lights on,” Teegan Robinson’s father, Tyler Robinson told KSL TV. “We flipped, did a full front flip, landed on the passenger side on the front, and then they said it rolled two-and-a-half more times and ended up on the driver’s side.”

The father said Teegan had been asleep but woke up during the roll and began screaming.

“The truck came to a stop on the driver’s side and I was asking him if he was okay,” Tyler Robinson said. “He didn’t know at first, and then he grabbed his leg and went to unbuckle his seatbelt and that’s when he realized something was wrong with his leg. His leg was broken. He said, ‘my leg’s floppy dad, my leg’s broke.’”

According to the family who shared X-ray images, Teegan suffered a broken femur as well as a fracture to his back.

The father also suffered significant injuries with a myocardial contusion and pulmonary contusion.

“Even with my seatbelt on, I still hit the windshield,” Tyler said.

Teegan said his injuries were going to keep him out of his wrestling season and he still possibly had 3 months left in his recovery.

The family acknowledged the crash alone would have been plenty on their plate — if only that was the only thing.

“It’s been awful with the eviction and then now this,” mother Lynnae Robinson added. “Then he was chased by the guy with the truck.”

The latter — which Price police said involved an unprovoked attack by a stranger at a city park — drew its own news headlines.

“It’s been weird,” Lynnae Robinson said. “It’s been a weird month.”

A *GoFundMe account was set up on behalf of the family and Lynnae Robinson said she was grateful for all the support she, her husband, and son had received from the community so far.

The Robinsons said they remained hopeful for the future.

“We can only go up from here, right?” she chuckled. “With all the negativity, there is some positive, I think.”
