Several Skyline High School students sent home early after flooding

MILLCREEK, Utah — Skyline High School students were released early from classes after flooding and leaking Wednesday afternoon.
“Due to the intense rainfall, we had to release several of our classrooms around 2 p.m. today to ensure student safety,” reads the Granite School District statement.
The rest of the students were able to attend classes and leave the school at their regularly scheduled time.

The school principal said leaks and flooding are a “regular occurrence” because of the school’s aging and leaking roof. The auditorium area also flooded, canceling play practice and other activities for the day. Other activities and extracurriculars were able to resume.
“We reject any inconvenience and anticipate that theses issues will be resolved in time for the start of school tomorrow,” continues the Granite School District statement.
