SOUTH JORDAN, Utah – Three people were injured during an early-morning house party, and police do not have a suspect in custody, authorities said.
The incident happened shortly before 2:30 a.m. at a “friendsgiving” party in the area of 4600 West and South Jordan Parkway.
“Somebody obviously got in some type of disagreement and ended up shooting some people,” South Jordan Police Department Lt. Matt Pennington said.
Pennington said investigators are searching for a single gunman. He said police believe they know who the suspect is but are not releasing identifying information at this time.
Pennington confirmed the suspect has gang ties.
The victims’ identities are unknown, but they are all adult men.
Officials said one victim, who appears to be the intended target, was shot eight times. He is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The other two victims were each shot once.
Authorities said they don’t believe neighbors in the vicinity are at risk.

“At this stage, we think (the suspect) probably left in a vehicle,” Pennington said. “We don’t have any leads that say otherwise, so we don’t think there’s any danger to the immediate public around this area.”
He added that residents should be vigilant, nonetheless.
“If happen to see somebody that doesn’t belong in your yard or is hiding out, call us,” he said.
Multiple agencies responded to the incident, including police from West Valley City, Herriman, Riverton, West Jordan, Sandy, and Unified Police Department. The Salt Lake City Police Department crime scene investigators are at the scene. The public is asked to avoid the area.
