EAGLE MOUNTAIN — A multi-vehicle crash closed both directions of traffic on Cory B. Wride Memorial Highway Wednesday afternoon.
Sgt. Spencer Cannon with the Utah County Sheriff’s Office said the six-car crash happened at approximately 3 p.m. on state Route 73 near mile marker 30.
Cannon said the driver of a white pickup truck attempted to pass westbound traffic when it wasn’t clear to do so and hit another truck traveling eastbound. Rescue crews had to extricate two people from the second truck, and they were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Police cited the driver of the white pickup for unsafe passing, failure to yield to the right of way, and having no insurance on the vehicle.
“Something like this, he was impatient. For whatever reason, thought it would be ok to try and pass, and it created a real risk of death to others,” Cannon said.
