SLC police investigate ‘possible explosive device’

SALT LAKE CITY — Police are investigating a suspicious item and possible explosive device found in an apartment at 999 South Main Street.
According to a release from the Salt Lake City Police Department, the investigation began at 9:49 a.m. Wednesday when they received information about a possible explosive device in an apartment.
Officers responded and were able to secure the scene and evacuate portions of the apartment complex including the courtyard out of an abundance of caution.
SLCP’s Hazardous Devices Unit responded and took the item for further investigation.
The release stated, “As a reminder, if you see anything that looks suspicious, do not touch or pick up the item. Call 911 and follow instructions from the dispatcher.”
