Suspected impaired driver hits police vehicle, officers say

SALT LAKE CITY — A car crashed into a police vehicle in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night while officers were investigating a drug problem.

The crash occurred near 140 North 800 West in the Fairpark neighborhood, the Salt Lake City Police Department said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The police department said the officer was not injured, and the driver taken to a hospital by paramedics with minor injuries.

Police found drug paraphernalia in the person’s car, and they suspect the driver was impaired at the time of the accident.
