MOAB, Utah — A teenage girl was killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 191 at 400 East Tuesday afternoon.
According to Moab City Police Department, U.S. 191 was closed in both directions beginning at the 400 East intersection and was expected to remain closed for at least two hours. The highway is the city’s main traffic artery, with businesses clustered on both sides of the street.
According to a release from Utah Highway Patrol, at approximately 3:25 PM on Tuesday, a gray Subaru Outback was traveling northbound at mile 123 on SR-191 (just south of Moab city limits).
For a unknown reason the 17 year old female driver drifted into the southbound lane and impacted a 3500 Ram pickup towing a gooseneck trailer with another pickup on the trailer.
The Subaru hit the left rear of the Ram pickup and front left side of the trailer with its driver’s side. The teen driver was killed on impact.
The male passenger of the Subaru and male driver of the Ram pickup were transported to a local hospital with non-life treating injuries.
The identity of the teen has not been released at this time.
