Three hospitalized, road closure after car crash in Provo

PROVO — Three people were hospitalized after two cars collided in Provo Tuesday.
According to Provo officials, two cars crashed at approximately 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, when a Nissan titan truck was traveling southbound on 1700 N State Street, when a northbound Toyota Scion turned left, colliding with the truck.
The Provo Police Department said both drivers were “extracted from their vehicles.” They reported that the driver and passenger of the Nissan truck sustained moderate injuries, and were transported to a hospital.
The driver of the Toyota sustained serious injuries and was also taken to a hospital. “He is considered to be in serious yet stable condition at the time of this update,” the department said in a release.
Following the crash, three people were reportedly taken to the hospital. Officials said one person involved has life-threatening injuries, and the other two have “superficial injuries.”
1700 N State Street was closed for approximately two and a half hours while the crash was investigated, the release said. The road was closed to southbound traffic due to the accident, the Provo Police Department said in a post on X. The department said the road was opened at 5:50 p.m. “Road is now clear, normal traffic flow has resumed.”

Police said there were no indications of impairment being a factor at this time.
Identification of those involved had not been released at the time of publication.
