EDEN — The driver and passenger of a delivery truck were ejected from their vehicle in a crash Thursday afternoon, according to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the sheriff’s office, the incident happened on 5300 N. Powder Mountain Road at 3:30 p.m.
Lt. Colby Ryan of the sheriff’s office said the driver lost control of the vehicle and drove off the shoulder of the road to the right, crashing into the side of the mountain.
According to David Reed from the Weber Fire District, the two were ejected from the front windshield and were thrown about 20 to 30 feet.
Reed said one individual was transported to a local hospital by helicopter in critical condition, while the other was transported by ambulance with less serious injuries.
Powder Mountain Road was shut down for one hour while crews attended to the individuals, and the road was reduced to one lane.
Investigators believe brake failure was the cause of the crash as witnesses smelled break smoke.
