UTA To Require Face Coverings Beginning July 1

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Officials with the Utah Transit Authority said all employees and riders will be required to wear face coverings beginning July 1.
UTA began requiring Salt Lake County riders and employees to wear face coverings Saturday as the county’s mandatory face mask order went into effect at 12:01 a.m.
“As the state of Utah has seen a spike in COVID-19 cases recently, UTA wants to ensure we are doing all that we can to keep our riders, employees and community safe. The requirement of face masks or coverings ensures we can continue to serve the community in the safest way possible,” officials said. “We share the same goal as the state in reducing the spread of COVID-19 to keep the Utah economy strong and moving toward recovery.”
More details on the system-wide mask requirement will be shared in the next few days. UTA officials encouraged riders to check here for updates.
“UTA has face masks available for riders who need one at our Customer Service locations. We are also working to make masks available on our transit vehicles,” officials said.
